Scout Report

Technical Profile

Calvert-Lewin offers so much more than just a goal threat to Leeds. His ability to pin centre-backs, win first contact, and bring other players in the game makes him a fantastic all-around striker.

Physical Threat

Calvert-Lewin is a nuisance to defenders on the floor and in the air, and is dangerous aerial threat to opponents. His presences helps enhance Leeds’ goal threat from set-piece situations, and crosses into the box.

Tactical Role

Whether leading the line in a 4-2-3-1, or working alongside a partner in a 3-5-2, Calvert-Lewin leads the press from the front, and is the man who team-mates look to hit early. His work rate off the ball is fundamental to Daniel Farke’s high-intensity system.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin: Leeds United’s bargain of the summer

When Leeds United announced the signing of Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer of 2025 on a free transfer from Everton, there was mix of optimism and caution. There was no doubt that the Whites had signed a very talented Premier League striker, but there were obvious question marks about his ability to stay fit. But, Daniel Farke has managed Calvert-Lewin’s game time brilliantly, and consequently he has been an outstanding addition to the training ground at Thorp Arch, and the England striker has really won over the Elland Road faithful. Considering the reported competition Leeds fought off to sign Calvert-Lewin, it is no stretch at all to say he has been the bargain of the summer.

D. Calvert-Lewin in Profile: Contract Status and Market Value

Dominic Calvert-Lewin: What’s his value?

Calvert-Lewin has become an absolute spearhead for Leeds United’s attack since his arrival. According to Transfermarkt, his current value is in the region of £19million. After joining on a free transfer, he has proven an absolute bargain signing for Leeds as he enters the peak years of his career.

What happened last summer?

Calvert-Lewin was linked with suitors in the Premier League and across the continent in the last summer transfer window, but Leeds won the race for his signature. With no transfer fee paid, the investment was primarily in a significant wage package. His contract runs until the summer of 2028, giving the Whites a strong position in any future negotiations.

Has Daniel Farke’s system changed things?

Calvert-Lewin has thrived under Daniel Farke’s leadership. While he had injury struggles in the past, he has been an influential performer at Elland Road, leading the press and acting as the primary target man. It would likely take a monumental bid for Leeds to consider selling him.

Will Calvert-Lewin make England’s World Cup squad?

Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues means he has not played for England since July 2021. But his form this season has led to calls for him to be one of the main back-ups to Three Lions skipper Harry Kane at this summer’s World Cup. If he can help fire Leeds to Premier League survival, then his claims to be on the plane will only be enhanced.

Has Calvert-Lewin been the best signing Leeds have made in the 2025-26 season?

Yes, without question.
No, others have been better.

Is Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s World Cup dream over?

With 10 Premier League goals to his name prior to the final international break in March 2026, there was a feeling that Calvert-Lewin could muscle his way into contention for England’s World Cup squad in the United States, Mexico, and Canada this summer. Certainly, his inclusion in an extended party for the “send-off series” in March gave hope that he could be included. However, Dominic Solanke was chosen to start in the absence of captain Harry Kane against Uruguay, then Calvert-Lewin was allowed to return to Leeds before the fixture against Japan. It all suggests that, sadly, he is out of contention for a spot in the squad as things stand. Still, if he can have a strong end to the campaign and help get Leeds over the line in the fight for survival in the Premier League then maybe, just maybe, he can still find his way into the squad.
