Tottenham vs Leeds team news latest as James Maddison could make Spurs return

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Leeds United to N17 on Monday night, with players on both sides touch-and-go to play.

It’s a clash in North London that could have huge implications for both teams, with Tottenham battling to stay in the Premier League and Leeds looking to make sure of their top-flight status for 2026-27.

Daniel Farke‘s side enter the game off the back of a 3-1 victory over Burnley last time out, extending their unbeaten run in the league to six matches.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have seemingly turned a corner under Roberto De Zerbi, with the Lilywhites enjoying back-to-back wins and haven’t tasted defeat in any of their last three league outings respectively.

Ahead of Tottenham and Leeds’ game in the capital, MOT Leeds News rounds up the injury latest for both sides.

Edmund Riemer hands Leeds mixed injury latest

With Farke ill on Friday, it was the task of his assistant coach Edmund Riemer to take the pre-Tottenham press conference.

Noah Okafor came off injured against Burnley in Leeds’ most recent game, with the 25-year-old suffering from a calf strain.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Riemer confirmed that Okafor is set to miss the next two matches as a result, and thus is not expected to play any part against Spurs.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Gudmundsson is also not expected to return as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, and Ilia Gruev’s season is known to be over due to a meniscus problem.

However, whilst defender Pascal Struijk didn’t train with the group on Friday, there is hope within the Whites camp that he will be available come 8pm on Monday evening.

As seen from the predicted lineup graphic above, Farke may have to do some juggling around with his starting lineup against Spurs, with Daniel James potentially coming in for the injured Okafor.

De Zerbi hopeful of James Maddison involvement vs Leeds

Tottenham have a long injury list, with their treatment room consistently busy throughout this season.

De Zerbi is optimistic that he will start to get a few of his star players back in the fold before the end of the campaign, one of which being James Maddison.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder hasn’t played a single minute of the 2025-26 season so far after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season, but has been back in full training for a little while now.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, De Zerbi reported no fresh injury problems after their win over Aston Villa, and hinted that Maddison may be ready for some form of involvement, likely from the bench, against Leeds.

Elsewhere, he also didn’t rule out striker Dominic Solanke from being fit to play some kind of a part on Monday night too, but confirmed that goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario won’t be available against the Whites.

Xavi Simons has undergone knee surgery this week after suffering an ACL injury, and isn’t expected back until early 2027, whilst Cristian Romero, Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert’s seasons are also over too.

Ben Davies and Dejan Kulusevski could return at some point before the end of the season, but neither are expected to be involved against Leeds.
