When Willy Gnonto could return: Early Leeds United team news vs Nottingham Forest in Premier League
Willy Gnonto admitted in pre-season that he feels more Leeds United than ever.
The Italian winger signed for the Whites back in 2022 from FC Zurich, leaving Switzerland behind for the Premier League.
Gnonto took the Premier League by storm too, but has slowly been in and out of plans in LS11.
That even saw him ask to leave after relegation to the Championship, but he was denied an exit to Everton at the time.
But, Gnonto looked like a different animal during this pre-season, determined to get more minutes under his belt.
Unfortunately, injury has put a halt to that.
What is latest on Willy Gnonto's injury?
Gnonto shined off the bench in Dublin against Manchester United, absolutely terrorising Harry Amass.
Daniel Farke confirmed days later that the winger actually picked up a hamstring issue in that 1-1 draw.
Now, Ben Dinnery, an injury expert in the Premier League, has shared that Gnonto may not return until the start of September.
Releasing updates on his EPL Injuries site, it's said that the attacker is definitely ruled out, alongside Gabriel Gudmundsson.
Ilia Gruev is currently being assessed after an injury cut short his season last time around, but he still hasn't featured so his inclusion is unlikely.
Lucas Perri is another doubt, but the goalkeeper has jetted away to seal a loan move to Torino, anyway.
How will Leeds look in attack?
Farke has several options along his front three for the City Ground.
Gnonto was never likely to start, but there are two guarantees in the final third to kickstart to
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will lead the line, and Harry Wilson will start off that right-hand side ahead of Jayden Bogle, cutting inside when he wants.
The debate is on the left.
That is where Gnonto plays, and with Noah Okafor building his fitness still, question marks have emerged.
Okafor would start usually, but Brenden Aaronson could get the shout with Farke clearly a big fan of the American.
Leeds fans won't particularly like that, but it's just the season opener and changes will come as the campaign kicks on.
