Leeds United are set to play host to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday.

The Whites will be keen to bounce back as soon as possible after their midweek loss against Chelsea.

Daniel Farke's side had looked to be in control at Stamford Bridge when Tarik Muharemovic and Brenden Aaronson put the away side 2-0 up.

The Blues eventually came back and were winning 4-2 by the 65th minute before going on to seal a 6-3 win.

Leeds will need to forget what happened in the Carabao Cup and now turn their attention to league action.

Newcastle are set to make the trip to Elland Road as we assess the injury latest for both sides.

There is no new injury issues for the Yorkshire outfit to truly concern themselves with.

Joe Rodon is set for a lengthy absence after a thigh injury sustained away to Brentford in August.

Farke confirmed that the Welshman could be out for between eight and 10 weeks.

Ilia Gruev is the only other issue in LS11, but may be able to return against Newcastle.

He has been absent since mid-April and faces a late fitness test to be available at Elland Road.

It is yet to be seen whether he will feature, with just a few days between Farke's update and the Newcastle game on Monday.

Newcastle wait on double fitness test

The Magpies are suffering with more problems than their opponents on Monday.

Matthias Jaissle could be without five first-team stars, with Joelinton, Dan Burn and William Osula all set to miss out.

They are dealing with long-term problems that will likely see them ruled out until mid-October at least.

The same can't be said for Ewen Jaouen and Amar Dedic, who are suffering from ankle and thigh injuries respectively.

Both will undergo late fitness tests at Newcastle to see if they will be fit enough to make the squad at Elland Road.

Jaouen is seemingly closer to featuring after twisting an ankle ahead of last week's clash against Bournemouth.
