It's been a rollercoaster of an international break for Leeds United forward Jean-Matteo Bahoya.

Before linking up with France's Under-21s squad, the 21-year-old made his Leeds debut as a late substitute in the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace in the final game before the international call-ups kicked in.

Bahoya then started against Iceland and Estonia in Euro U21 qualifying, scoring against the latter in a 2-0 win, before being forced off in the first half against Luxembourg.

During the game, RMC Sport reported the Eintracht Frankfurt loanee "twisted his right ankle after landing awkwardly", before being attended to by French medical staff.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the Leeds attacker would miss France's game against Switzerland's U21s that same day.

But the bad news for Bahoya didn't stop there

France U21s result is bad news for Jean-Matteo Bahoya

Without the Leeds summer signing, France U21s managed to win 7-1 against Switzerland.

Noe Lebreton replaced Bahoya on the left-wing and bagged a goal and an assist in a comprehensive win over the Swiss

It was a nothing game for France, who'd already qualified for the U21s Euros next summer

But Switzerland were playing for something, and they missed out on a play-off spot to Iceland because of that defeat

Bahoya wasn't involved in the greatest of France U21s performances either, having drawn with Iceland and only scoring twice against an Estonia side who played with 10 men for the majority of the game.

As he'll be 22 next summer, the U21s Euros be the final chance for Bahoya to play for France's youth sides, so this injury could have come at a terrible time.

How long will Bahoya be out for?

This is the million-pound question that Leeds and the France U21s set-up will want to know.

Daniel Farke signed Bahoya on a loan-to-buy deal from Frankfurt in the summer, but has barely seen him kick a ball in anger since joining.

For France, their U21s will most likely have some friendly fixtures to play in November as they prepare for the Euros next year.

Will Bahoya make that squad? He might not.

His injury sounded like a bad one and Farke will be sure to provide an update in his pre-Arsenal press conference this week, if the Leeds medical team have done their checks in time.
