Daniel Farke's Leeds plans out the window after new Jean-Matteo Bahoya announcement
Daniel Farke's plans of slowly integrating Jean-Matteo Bahoya into his Leeds United side may have suffered a setback.
It was confirmed on Sunday that Bahoya suffered an ankle injury while away on France Under-21 duty.
The 21-year-old landed awkwardly on his right ankle and, after initially trying to play on, was substituted off 10 minutes before half-time.
France U21s boss Gerald Baticle later said Bahoya would undergo tests on the injured ankle, but it was unclear how severe the damage was.
A further update has now emerged on the Eintracht Frankfurt loanee's situation.
And it is potentially bad news for Farke, who has been playing a long-term game when it comes to the summer signing.
What's the latest on Jean-Matteo Bahoya injury?
Bahoya has been used for just one minute so far since arriving late in the summer window.
That came in the dying embers of the goalless draw with Crystal Palace in the last game before the international break.
Farke has been careful to slowly integrate Bahoya into the side, albeit a little too cautious.
It was expected that the attacking midfielder would start to see more and more minutes upon the return to club action.
However, those plans may have to go on the backburner amid an update shared by the French Football Federation on Monday morning.
It has been confirmed Bahoya's injury is severe enough to keep him out of France U21s' game with their Switzerland counterparts on Tuesday.
Bahoya has been granted permission to return back to Leeds earlier than planned.
It is still not known how serious the injury is, but with just five days until Leeds head to Arsenal, you have to assume Bahoya will play no part.
Which other Leeds players will Daniel Farke be sweating over?
There are still a number of Leeds players in international action prior to the end of this extended window.
Tarik Muharemovic and Gabriel Gudmundsson both play on Monday evening, while Jaka Bijol, Ilia Gruev and Nico Elvedi play on Wednesday.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Trafford are also in the England squad to face Czechia on Wednesday, but it has already been confirmed the latter will be a substitute.
Farke will be watching closely in the hope of no further injury setbacks before club action resumes next weekend.
