Brenden Aaronson still looks set to go to the World Cup despite his latest Leeds United injury scare.

The American midfielder left the pitch after 59 minutes in the Whites' 1-0 win over Brighton, with fears that he had suffered a knee issue.

An injury at this stage has the potential to rule a player out of the competition, which is held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

However, the 25-year-old is still expected to make the tournament after a new update from Daniel Farke on his status.

Leeds have seen the best of Aaronson this season, and the national team will be hoping he can do the same for them.

What did Farke say about Aaronson's injury?

Aaronson put in a solid display in Leeds' win over Brighton, before he was forced off with the injury.

Farke confirmed that the attacking midfielder should be available for the clash with West Ham on 24 May, which would leave him available for selection by Mauricio Pochettino.

He said: “It was just a dead leg

“He was, even at half-time, on the bike trying to keep going. It normally just lasts a few days, but it was getting tighter and tighter. He should be alright for the next game.”

Is the Leeds star expected to make the World Cup?

Aaronson will be hoping to add to his 57 caps for the national team this summer in his homeland.

He was named on the bench for the last three international matches, coming on for 15 and 11 minutes against Uruguay and Portugal, but not featuring against Belgium.

The squad will be named on 26 May, so the Whites star will find out his fate by then, and Farke's update suggests that he will be available for the tournament.

He will be hoping to add to his nine goals and seven assists for his country in the competition and inspire his teammates to go as far as they can in front of their own fans.

Pochettino will surely select the Peacocks star in his squad, given the fact that he has notched four goals and five assists in 36 Premier League games, which is a solid return for a side that was expected to be relegated at the start of the campaign.

His dream is still alive after Farke's update, now, it is up to Pochettino to give him the chance to achieve it, whether he will remains to be seen.
