Leeds United transfers: Late PSR update drops before February 3 deadline
Leeds United are in a healthy position when it comes to their PSR position, Dave Powell has said.
The Whites have not made a signing ahead of the winter transfer window deadline on 3 February despite being top of the Championship by just two points.
However, the Reach football business expert assured supporters that it has nothing to do with the Elland Road club’s PSR position.
Speaking via Leeds Live, Powell said: “The club will be compliant with PSR for 2023/24, and the investment from Red Bull and additional capital from the owners, 49ers Enterprises, means that the club has no working capital concerns when it comes to cash flow and meeting obligations.
“The focus will really be on 2024/25, the financial year we are currently in.
“Big fees received for Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray, Luis Sinisterra, Glen Kamara and Crysencio Summerville will be significant in positively impacting the balance sheet and allowing the club to reduce the wage bill and aid revenue during a season when the value of parachute payments will drop.
“The club are in a reasonably strong position and look to have managed their relegation well from a financial perspective.”
Leeds United in a healthy position
The latest update will be a major boost for supporters as the Whites appear to be nowhere near breaching those dreaded PSR numbers.
Given the lack of transfer activity in the winter window, the club clearly feel that the current squad is good enough to secure promotion to the Premier League.
That would allow the Elland Road club to flex their financial muscle again and secure an increase in revenue that comes with playing in the top flight.

Promotion would likely bring an increased investment from Red Bull and help the chances of the Yorkshire outfit to remain in the division.
Daniel Farke needs to ensure that his side does enough to seal an automatic promotion spot in the Championship as another year in the second tier would limit any ability to grow.
They are well placed to do so at the moment but things can change rapidly given the unpredictable nature of the division.
In other Leeds news, the Whites could sanction a “controversial” Jack Harrison return to Elland Road.
