'Huge player' - Journalist claims Leeds star having 'Best season of his career'
If there is one thing that will get you in the good books of Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United, it is versatility.
The South American is known for having as small a squad as possible, so having players that can play in numerous positions is key.
Stuart Dallas was only known as a full-back or winger at the start of the campaign as seen him shifted into the middle of the park.
He has scored two in his last couple of outings, and although Leeds have suffered slightly with the creativity of Pablo Hernandez missing, no one can doubt Dallas and his workrate.
After being questioned about Dallas on the Athletic website after the game, Phil Hay claimed that the Northern Ireland international is having the best season of his entire career after being given that chance by Bielsa.
“He’s having the best season of his career at Leeds. Has been a huge player for Bielsa, in a way that Bielsa might not have expected when it all kicked off in August,” he wrote on the Athletic Q&A.
“I agree about the midfield though – there isn’t enough solidity in there. It can get open and it can get brittle and when it does Leeds become vulnerable.”
Leeds are much better with Hernandez in midfield and Dallas back in defence, but that is not to take anything away from the defender who was superb against Birmingham.
He took his goal superbly, and his rise to the top after being somewhat pushed to the side by previous managers and maybe even Bielsa at points last season has been phenomenal.
