Leeds United can pay £25m for Jack Clarke transfer before August 30
Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United can afford to pay £25million for Sunderland winger Jack Clarke before the August 30 deadline.
The finance expert admitted that PSR calculations would need to be juggled, but money from the sales of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Archie Gray can be reinvested.
It comes after it was reported that Sunderland would demand up to £25million to sell their star man [Sunderland Echo], with Leeds very much interested [Mirror]
“I think it would be a statement signing and I think it is possible,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“You have got to juggle the PSR calculation, we can’t see the 2024 accounts yet so we don’t know exactly where Leeds are, but if you look at the outgoings and take Rutter as an example, then you can reinvest some of that money in the market.
“I would expect Leeds to do so in the next few days given the number of outgoings, it won’t be as high as some of the ones in the past, but if you can make a signing like that and Leeds are one of the clubs in the Championship who could afford to pay that money.
“It’s a possibility and we’ve seen already this season, it would be a statement signing.”

Leeds United to sign Jack Clarke
After the signing of Largie Ramazani was confirmed from Almeria on 22 August, it may be hard to image Clarke coming through the door too.
Other areas such as the number 10 role, midfield and full-back need to be looked at and with only eight days remaining in the window, a lot has been left to do.
Daniel Farke will want to show ambition, but this one may be a bridge too far for Clarke and Leeds.
