Exclusive: Paul Robinson – This is what I've heard about Erling Haaland after Leeds link

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said he’s heard that striker Erling Haaland is going to Man United but admitted he would be a “brilliant addition” for Leeds.

The Leeds-born 19-year-old striker has been turning heads at RB Salzburg, where he’s scored a phenomenal 28 goals already this season.

He’s currently the second top scorer in the Champions League, behind Robert Lewandowski.

There have been links with Leeds – Bleacher Report said they were the most likely destination for him if they got promoted.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, we asked Robinson if he thought there was a chance of him coming to Leeds.

“I’ve heard what Solskjaer has said… It looks like he’s going to Man United,” Robinson said.

“But a player of that quality and that ability, of course he would be a brilliant addition for Leeds.”

Leeds are heading for promotion this season and a potential takeover from QSI is on the cards, which could give the club huge spending power.

“If the world’s your oyster and money’s no object, of course, you go and buy the very best players,” said Robinson.

“It’s important that if investment does come in, they strengthen the squad, but Bielsa hasn’t historically spent for the sake of spending so it will be interesting to see.

“I certainly don’t think Patrick Bamford can do it on his own. It’s one area they definitely need to improve.”

Signing a player like Haaland might seem like fantasy football at the moment, but that could all change if Leeds are promoted and QSI money comes in.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has said that QSI money could take Leeds up to the level of Man City. And Haaland is exactly the sort of player that Leeds should be targetting if that is the case.

And remember what Haaland said in 2017: “I want to be the best. The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds.” [Aftenposten]
