'Massive' – BBC pundit delivers exciting QSI update as Leeds takeover talks progress

Lots of people have written about QSI and a potential Leeds United takeover.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has gone on the record as saying that he is considering an offer from the PSG owners that could take the club into the same bracket as Man City.

Now, former Leeds player turned BBC pundit Noel Whelan has said that takeover talks are progressing behind the scenes at Elland Road.

Talking to Football Insider, Whelan said, “I’ve been told that talks are going on behind the scenes and that, if this happens with Qatar, Leeds can be another Man City.

“Qatar won’t just buy a stake and do nothing. They will go for it massively, exactly the way Abu Dhabi have done with Man City, through massive investment in players.

“This is huge for the club, the city and our massive fanbase.”

He added that he hoped something could be agreed before January.

Unlike some others who have penned stories on the takeover, we know that Whelan still has very strong sources inside the club.

A source close to QSI told MOT Leeds News that the Qatar group wanted to buy more of the club than Radrizzani was willing to sell at the time. That was back at the start of November.

However, the end game could well be promotion to the Premier League and since the start of November, Leeds haven’t lost a game and are now at the top of the Championship and 11 points clear from third.

The Premier League is where the value of the club will be unlocked for Radrizzani. And, while he might want to retain control and ride the waves of the top-flight, it could be very hard to resist the sort of money that could put Leeds right back in the mix at the top.

The majority of Leeds fans want to see it happen. Not all. Some are understandably nervous at Qatar money coming in.

But it does seem like Marcelo Bielsa has given the club an irresistible push back towards the big time. It would be amazing to see him get a shot at the biggest league in the world with the sort of money that could make a real difference.
