Daniel Farke sack verdict shared as ‘worrying’ signs emerge at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has backed Daniel Farke to remain as Leeds United manager despite missing out on promotion to the Premier League this season.
The Whites missed their chance to secure automatic promotion from the Championship, heading into the dreaded play-offs, where they lost 1-0 to Southampton in the final at Wembley.
While Red Bull’s introduction as minority shareholders is likely to ease some of the financial concerns, the club must still pay off unpaid transfer fees to ensure they remain within the limits of Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “The chairman spoke after the final, giving the manager his full backing. There were two games this season that stuck out to me – Blackburn Rovers at home and the Rotherham game. If they’d won those games, Leeds would have been up automatically.
“That’s where Leeds missed out this season. There were times when they didn’t get the results they should have done, but as a whole, the manager has done a good job from where he was at the start of the season.
“There were times that he played a little more negative towards the end of the season, but I don’t think there is any immediate call to replace the manager. He has the full backing so you expect him to still be there at the start of next season.
“The worrying thing that the chairman said is about the player trading because of FFP and PSR. He namechecked Archie Gray and a couple of other players, which is a worrying thing from the manager’s point of view.
“If the manager is going to be there at the start of next season, what type of squad is he going to have to deal with? They’re going to have to trade, but if they lose the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto, and Gray, whether they can make Joe Rodon’s move permanent, it’s going to be a tough summer.
“I think the manager’s job is going to be based on what he’s left with at the start of pre-season, and will have to rebuild ahead of another Championship campaign.“
Will Daniel Farke secure Premier League promotion for Leeds United?

Having led Norwich City to promotion on two separate occasions, there are few manager replacements who have a better chance of success at Elland Road next season.
While there will be an overriding sensation of disappointment, Farke still has the full backing of the hierarchy and fanbase at Leeds, which will be important heading into a second Championship campaign.
In other Leeds United news, Goodman has made a promotion prediction should a certain Farke development play out.
