Paraag Marathe has given Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke his backing, saying he is "excited" about working with the German next season.

The Whites failed to secure Premier League promotion in 2023/24, losing the Championship playoff final 1-0 against Southampton at Wembley on 26 May.

However, Leeds chief Marathe retains faith in Farke for next season and has no plans to make a change in the dugout.

He told BBC Radio Leeds: "Daniel has been fantastic, I'm excited about working with him next season.

"We had a long-term plan, a long-term commitment; we have to see it through.

"He has the right temperament. I feel confident because we have a four- or five-week head start on last year at least."

Is keeping Daniel Farke the right decision for Leeds United?

Leeds may have failed to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking under Farke, but this season has underlined the German tactician's credentials.

In another Championship campaign, the season Leeds produced in Farke's first year at Elland Road would surely have been sufficient to claim a top-two finish or even the league title - and automatic promotion.

As it was, the Whites' 90 points were only enough to see them into third place and they fell to a narrow defeat at the final hurdle against Southampton.

However, if Leeds continue as they have done under Farke, they will likely be pushing for an automatic promotion place once again when the back end of the 2024/25 season draws into view - as long as the squad is not unduly weakened by the likely sale of several significant players this summer.

The gamble of starting again under a new manager when promotion was missed out on this season by such fine margins seems needless - sticking with Farke is surely the right call.
