Red Bull's fee paid to become a minority shareholder at Leeds United will increase if they secure promotion to the Premier League next season, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist reported via GiveMeSport [1 June] that suggestions that the deal is worth £200million, with £60million to be paid in the first year, are "wide of the mark", however.

While the exact percentage of Red Bull's share in the club is undisclosed like the amount paid to secure the deal, the company are likely to ease the financial concerns at Elland Road currently.

"Red Bull's stake is significant, and the fee paid will increase if Leeds are promoted," Jacobs told GiveMeSport.

"The exact percentage or amount is undisclosed, but it's understood reports suggesting the deal is worth £200m, with £60m paid in the first year, are wide of the mark."

Red Bull purchase minority share in Leeds United

There remains some uncertainty over the actual amount Red Bull are pumping into Leeds but the news of the extra revenue came at a great time considering the club suffered Championship play-off final heartbreak.

The fanbase were, understandably, reeling from last Sunday's (26 May) 1-0 Wembley defeat to Southampton that saw the team fall short of an immediate return to the Premier League.

Some player sales are still likely to be needed as Leeds are still paying off previous transfers and need to ensure they remain within the limits of Profit and Sustainability rules, meaning players such as Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Wilfried Gnonto are likely to draw significant interest over the next few months.

But, especially with the new revenue streams announced, Daniel Farke will still be expected to lead the Whites to Premier League promotion next season, whatever the Leeds squad looks like after the summer transfer window.

Paraag Marathe has already stated his confidence in the current manager, and rightly so, having led Norwich City to promotion on two separate occasions and will, hopefully, do the same at Elland Road next season.
