Leeds United need to ramp up their January efforts after it was revealed Sunderland are close to completing the blockbuster signing of Enzo Le Fee.

The Whites have started 2025 at the top of the Championship and have put themselves in an excellent position to go on and achieve promotion but those hopes may hinge on their willingness to show ambition in January which so far, looks non-existent.

On the other hand, the sides around them have made their promotion intentions clear with Sunderland reportedly set to sign Le Fee from Roma [Matteo Moretto], a deal which has seen plenty of Leeds fans question the ambition of their own side.

The Black Cats aren't the only title competitor looking to boost their promotion hopes with Sheffield United set to land the loan capture of Ben Brereton Diaz [talkSPORT].

Unless the Whites start to show ambition, it appears they are sleepwalking into another Championship campaign.

Leeds United must utilise the January transfer window

There isn't any doubting the level of quality currently in the Leeds squad but ultimately, that quality only has the Whites three points above fourth in the Championship.

In regards to that, when you consider the fact that those other three sides are showcasing ambition with their transfer business, there is every chance that the Whites will be dethroned at the summit of the Championship and unless they follow suit, it could cost them promotion.

The division is a tightly contested prospect this season, with the title race wide open and the addition of one or two quality players to any side could be the difference between promotion and not.

It is absolutely paramount that Leeds release the shackles of this window and address the issues and concerns among the squad.
