Leeds United: Daniel Farke must keep track of Kris Moore development after what he did this week

Daniel Farke must keep an eye on Leeds United Under-21s prospect Kris Moore after his performances this week at Thorp Arch.

Despite a relatively poor season for the young Whites, currently sitting in 22nd in Premier League 2, Scott Gardner’s team look to be finishing the campaign on a high.

Leeds battled hard to take a 3-0 victory against Derby County on Monday 15 April, winning their first clean sheet of the league season before following that up with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United.

Moore came on against the Rams for the final 38 minutes, slotting into defence to secure the win, before donning the captain’s armband versus the Magpies at centre-back.

Though these teams are bottom and second-bottom in the league table, Leeds will be able to take a lot of confidence from the victories, and the 20-year-old defender has been at the very centre of it.

Of course, the players will be disappointed with 17 points from 18 matches but the captain has continued to push his team forward throughout the season, which should impress Farke.

Daniel Farke could promote Kris Moore at Leeds United

Moore is in a similar position to academy graduate Charlie Cresswell, who also captained the U21s during his time at Thorp Arch. However, his promotion to the first team has been far from satisfactory.

The 21-year-old had reportedly fallen out with Farke over game time earlier this season, and despite earning his spot in the senior squad back, has only made five league appearances.

This scenario could present Moore with an opportunity to become an established member of the Leeds squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, though missing out on first-team football could hinder his chances.

Even without the Scottish Premiership spell, Farke must still consider moving Moore up the ranks after an impressive couple of clean sheets this week.
