Wolves open to Adama Traore sale amid Leeds United speculation

Leeds United have “alternative winger targets” amid speculation linking them with a move for Wolves attacker Adama Traore, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims Tottenham are in the hunt to sign the 25-year-old, who Wolves are open to selling for £45million this summer as he’s in the final two years of his contract at Molineux.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Leeds are said to be linked with the Spain international but the Mail report adds: “The Elland Road club are understood to have alternative winger targets.”

Leeds United

Ridiculous – move on

Wolves know that they probably have to cash in on Traore this summer because he’ll be available at a discounted rate next year unless he signs a contract extension.

The ex-Middlesbrough and Aston Villa winger simply isn’t worth £45million to a club like Leeds so there’s absolutely no point in looking into signing him.

While Traore has obvious strengths in his power, pace and dribbling ability, the Spaniard’s end product is woeful.

He had a good 2019/20 season but last term, he underperformed massively at Molineux and his poor form played a role in Wolves’ bottom-half Premier League finish.

Traore scored two goals and supplied three assists in 37 Premier League matches last season and all of them came after April.

Leeds can do better than Traore and they can find a lot better for a fraction of the cost Wolves want for their jet-heeled winger.

If Tottenham sign him instead, he’ll be an expensive flop in North London.

In other Leeds United news, a player had decided on his next club after the Whites pushed all the way to try and sign him.
