Leeds United miss out on Lazio-bound Wolfsburg ace Josip Brekalo

Leeds United have pushed hard in their bid to sign Wolfsburg forward Josip Brekalo but their pursuit hasn’t ended how they would have hoped, according to LUFCFANZONE.

The reliable Leeds source, who have regularly broken transfers stories this summer, including Kiko Casilla’s move to Elche, have reported on their Twitter account what a source has told them about Brekalo’s situation amid interest from Leeds.

LUFCFANZONE have been told by a source that Leeds have “pushed all the way, but next week, Josip will sign for Lazio”.

Onto the next one

It has been a disappointing few days for Leeds in their bid to make outfield additions.

Leeds have already missed out on Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher and now they’re going to miss out on Brekalo, who would have been a fine addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s attack.

The Croatia international is a left-sided winger who can also play on the right and last season, he scored seven goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg.

Bielsa loves to have plenty of wide options in his squad and after losing Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alioski at the end of last season, it would make sense to bring someone new in.

Brekalo is a young attacker who’s only recently turned 23 and is definitely someone who would improve under Bielsa.

It’s a shame he won’t be blessing Elland Road next season and will instead be going to Lazio but we have full faith in Victor Orta to be able to find someone else for Bielsa to sink his teeth into.

In other Leeds United news, Bielsa can save Andrea Radrizzani millions after what he privately said about this player at Elland Road.
