Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto is "keen" on a move away from Elland Road to join Everton this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported via X on Monday (15 July) that the Toffees do hold a real interest in the Italian winger and negotiations already taking place to understand the conditions of any potential deal.

Sean Dyche's side has held talks with the 20-year-old's representatives recently and while discussions continue to take place, Gnonto is understood to be interested in making the move back to the Premier League with the Blues.

Will Wilfried Gnonto exit Leeds United amid Everton transfer speculation?

Leeds United supporters must be getting a feeling of deja vu at the moment because this entire story is almost a complete rehash of what happened between Gnonto and Everton throughout last summer's transfer window.

Of course, a move to Goodison Park will appeal to the Italian winger. He will want to be playing top-flight football and that is on offer in Merseyside. But this deal will likely only be completed if it is on the Whites' terms.

Daniel Farke's side blocked the 20-year-old's exit last summer and unless their demands are met they will likely do the same again. With Archie Gray already sold and Glen Kamara nearing the exit, the Whites won't be forced into any more sales.

Every player does have an asking price and should that be met, Leeds will more than likely allow Gnonto to depart. Until then, however, he is a Leeds player and he will be expected to be included come the start of the season.

It will be interesting to see how the winger approaches this speculation after his antics 12 months ago.

Hopefully, he will have learned from his mistakes and will just get his head down regardless of the final outcome.
