Leeds United will launch a new bid for Tottenham's Oliver Skipp once Glen Kamara's exit is confirmed, according to PlanetSport.

The outlet reported on its website on Monday (15 July) that the Finnish midfielder has put pen to paper on a contract with Ligue 1 side Rennes that will see the Whites earn £8.4million for his signature.

Spurs are understood to be eager to sign a replacement for Skipp before allowing him to depart North London this summer, but the Whites could secure his services on loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

The Tottenham midfielder had been included in negotiations during Archie Gray's big-money move to Spurs, but Ange Postecoglou's side were unwilling to sanction his exit at that stage of the window.

Will Leeds United sign Oliver Skipp amid Glen Kamara exit speculation?

Leeds United simply have to be in the market for at least one new midfielder this summer having lost both Kamara and Gray in the opening weeks of the transfer window.

While the signing of Joe Rothwell is a sensible addition given his experience in the Championship and his ability to impress at this level, he alone cannot replace the two outgoing midfield stars alongside the likes of Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev.

Skipp knows what it takes to get promoted out of the Championship and in the past, he has been incredibly successful under the management of Daniel Farke. If a deal can be struck, he would be the perfect addition to the side.

But Leeds won't want to hang around and wait for Spurs to find a replacement. With pre-season well underway and the new Championship campaign edging closer, new recruits are needed sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, the Whites' new bid will be well received by Tottenham and an agreement can be reached sooner rather than later.

If not, Farke and his recruitment team will have to quickly turn to alternative targets.
