Why Leeds United's path to Rafael Leao deal is far clearer as one transfer door closes
Leeds United may be ready to jump back into the Rafael Leao transfer race.
One of the biggest 'will he, won't he?' transfer sagas of Leeds' summer transfer window must end soon.
Leao's name has been widely touted with a shock move to Elland Road over recent weeks, and would be a big addition to Daniel Farke's squad.
However, things on the Leeds front have started to quieten down of late, as other suitors start to vie for his signature.
But in these final days of the window, anything can happen, whilst a move to West Yorkshire hasn't categorically been ruled out, there is still a chance.
Leeds' odds for winning his services will have just naturally shortened too, as one major transfer player is no longer in contention.
Who has Leeds-linked Rafael Leao turned down a move to?
Leeds don't reportedly have an offer on the table for Leao as things stand, but that could all change very quickly.
Of course, if the Whites do intend to bring the Portuguese forward to LS11, they've only got days to sort that out.
Given his pedigree, Leao hasn't been short of potential transfer candidates this summer, with interest widely reported across Europe.
As well as Europe, Saudia Arabian giants Al Hilal have also been strongly linked, and with the riches they can offer, they were always going to be a major threat to Leeds.
However, Calciomercato claim on Wednesday that Leao has turned down a 'super offer' presented to him by Al Hilal.
The report states that it isn't necessarily money-related as the reason he's rejected the move, rather, he's simply not interested in playing in the Saudi Arabian Championship.
So, where do AC Milan currently stand with Leao?
Where is Leao currently as Milan exit expected?
It's been widely reported in Italy that Leao and Milan are mutually set on moving on from one another this summer.
He played no part in their Serie A opener against Torino last Sunday, and last turned out for them in a pre-season friendly against Chelsea earlier this month.
But, the aforementioned Calciomercato report reveals that Leao has now returned to first-team training with Milan.
It's claimed that he is available to Ruben Amorim for selection ahead of their clash with Venezia on Friday night.
Despite this, it's still reaffirmed that he's continuing to await news on his transfer destination, with his camp working on a solution for that.
The report claims that Aston Villa and Galatasaray are currently leading the race to sign him, with Tottenham also keen.
