Why Leeds United have made approach to sign Mandela Keita in double new transfer
Leeds United are finally starting to kick into gear with their transfers, but it hasn't been easy.
Harry Wilson has agreed to join Leeds as an unbelievable free agent signing, but that's yet to be confirmed.
Leeds have also made two bids for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, but both have been rejected so far.
Daniel Farke clearly wants more in midfield, and that has seen the Whites start to look elsewhere in the market.
That is where Mandela Keita comes into play.
Currently at Parma in Serie A, Leeds could be about to blow their transfer window wide open with a huge double deal.
Who else could Leeds United sign?
Zion Suzuki has been linked with a move to Elland Road for weeks now.
Leeds were said to be in the lead for the goalkeeper, with uncertainty continuing around Karl Darlow.
Now, La Gazzetta Dello Sport has reported in its print edition on Monday that the Whites appreciate Keita, too.
The newspaper reports that Leeds have made an approach for the midfielder, who is valued at £25.6million.
It's said that the 49ers have made the first approach from the Premier League, with interest high in England.
Parma need to sell before buying this summer, and ironically, Suzuki and Keita are top of the possible exit list.
Leeds United ready to spend big under 49ers
Paraag Marathe promised to spend big again at Elland Road, but with the expectations that sales would happen, too.
Pascal Struijk has left for Brighton in what is a pure profit deal for SCR, so Leeds can now enter the market even further.
Suzuki is also said to be valued at just above £25m, so signing the goalkeeper and Keita could set them back £50m.
Leeds' latest bid for Charles was upwards of £23m, so the money is there for the right kind of player.
Keita is slightly older, but does have two full seasons of Serie A experience behind him now.
With Wilson signing on a free and other reinforcements needed in defence and the final third, it remains to be seen how far Leeds and the 49ers will go with their budget.
Should Keita and Suzuki arrive though, Leeds are signing two of Europe's biggest talents.
