Why Leeds risk being taken for a ride as terms emerge for Lucas Perri exit
Leeds United may want to reconsider their stance on Lucas Perri amid the terms laid out by Torino.
MOT Leeds News has reported extensively on Perri's likely exit from Leeds this summer.
The 28-year-old only arrived at Elland Road from Lyon 12 months ago in a £15.6million deal.
However, he lost his place to Karl Darlow last season and has never truly convinced for Daniel Farke.
Perri has been linked with multiple clubs, with Torino emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.
But Leeds may not get their wish if they intend to get rid of Perri for good this summer.
What is the latest on Lucas Perri's Leeds exit?
Leeds are not exactly in a position right now to be allowing another goalkeeper to depart.
Illan Meslier exited upon the expiry of his contract at Elland Road, as did Karl Darlow, who is now at Manchester United.
Despite that, Cuore Turo report that talks are advancing between Leeds and Torino over a deal for Perri.
What is somewhat surprising, though, is that the Serie A side are pushing for a loan deal with an option to buy. Notably, not an obligation.
That would see Perri back in West Yorkshire a year from now, but Leeds would surely rather get rid for good in order to recoup some funds.
If that is indeed the case, Leeds need to stand firm as there will likely be other teams out there willing to make a permanent offer.
One out, one in at Leeds?
Leeds continue to be linked with Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki in their desperate search for a new number one.
As things stand, Farke only has Perri - hailed as "excellent" by teammate Sean Longstaff last season - to call upon between the sticks next season.
Leeds will therefore surely not sanction Perri's exit, whether permanent or on loan, until a new keeper is through the door at Thorp Arch.
Suzuki certainly seems to be a wise choice, but speculation has gone worryingly quiet on that front in recent days.
