Liam Delap could soon be leaving Chelsea for Leeds United this transfer window.

The English striker has struggled for game time at the Blues and has been linked with a move to the Whites.

With the West Yorkshire outfit looking to reinforce their attack in the coming weeks, the 23-year-old striker has emerged as a target for Daniel Farke.

Delap's future at Stamford Bridge may soon become clear and Elland Road could be his next destination.

Under Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior, the striker was a bit-part player and his prospects don't look any better after Xabi Alonso's appointment at the London club.

While the Peacocks will likely need to make a significant financial commitment to sign the attacker, there's no doubt the Blues will be more than willing to sanction his sale.

Chelsea stance evident as Leeds United pursue Liam Delap

Joao Pedro was Chelsea's first-choice number nine last season as Delap failed to make an impression.

The Blues also have the likes of Nicolas Jackson, Emmanuel Emegha and Marc Guiu in their ranks.

According to widespread reports on Wednesday, Chelsea are now set to sign Danny Welbeck from Brighton and Hove Albion.

The London club are close to completing the signing of the 35-year-old English centre-forward after agreeing terms with the Seagulls.

Welbeck's arrival will undoubtedly put the spotlight on Delap's future.

With Alonso making a move for the veteran striker, it wouldn't be surprising to see the doors open for the ex-Ipswich Town forward's exit.

What Daniel Farke will be getting in Delap

MOT Leeds News has covered reports of Leeds' interest in Delap, but they may need to raise funds to sign him.

The striker's stock has fallen since moving to Chelsea and it's easy to forget what he's capable of.

Despite the Englishman's fall from grace, the Whites seem to have faith in his potential.

Speaking during the 2024-25 season about Delap, Kieran McKenna said: "He's a different beast to the player he was in July.

"His rate of improvement for a young player is really high. His style is enjoyable to watch for anyone."

With the right mentorship and opportunities, the Chelsea youngster may be able to reignite his career.

Farke isn't afraid to make bold calls if a player shows they deserve their place in the team, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for Delap.
