Leeds United have entered the race for Chelsea striker Liam Delap and will know exactly what is needed to get a deal done.

The Whites have identified the 23-year-old as a target to provide competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of next season.

After moving to Stamford Bridge last summer, the English attacker has struggled for game time at the London club.

Delap's situation is now being monitored at Elland Road, with Chelsea ready to offload the centre-forward.

Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe are the other two options at Daniel Farke's disposal for the number nine position, but there may be exits from that department soon.

The West Yorkshire outfit have shown they're serious about backing the German manager this transfer window, but they may have to wait before signing the former Ipswich Town striker.

How much Leeds United will have to pay for Liam Delap

MOT Leeds News has extensively covered reports of James Trafford's imminent move to Elland Road for £40million, with the club looking for a new striker after completing a deal for the Manchester City goalkeeper.

Delap is now an option for the Whites, who are one of three "serious" suitors for him.

According to The i Paper on 29 July, Chelsea want between £35m and £40m for the attacker this summer.

While the West Yorkshire outfit are eyeing the striker, a potential move is viewed as "ambitious" right now, with funds tight after spending heavily on Trafford.

As a result, the Peacocks may need to raise significant funds and offload talent before pursuing a deal for Delap.

Who Leeds could sell to sanction Delap deal

Wilfried Gnonto has been linked with an exit from Leeds and his situation will be worth keeping an eye on.

It will also be interesting to see what role Daniel James will play in the squad next season after Harry Wilson's arrival.

Piroe's future also remains uncertain at Elland Road after failing to convince Farke after the West Yorkshire outfit's promotion to the Premier League.

There are a few attackers who could be making their way out of LS11, which may fund Delap's arrival.

The Elland Road faithful will surely be eagerly waiting to see what 49ers Enterprises have in store after some decent deals so far.
