Why Harvey Elliott's preference gives crystal-clear answer to Daniel Farke and Leeds United

Harvey Elliott has emerged as a transfer target for Leeds United this summer.

The Whites may put all their efforts into signing a new number 10 now, with Daniel Farke keen on landing a new creative spark.

It comes after the club were dealt a blow in the form of Julian Brandt, after the former Borussia Dortmund star snubbed a move to Elland Road in favour of Ajax.

Farke and Co. will not give up their hope of signing a new attacking midfielder yet, as Elliott's name has been on their list all summer.

The Liverpool player endured a horrid campaign with Aston Villa last season, making just nine appearances after an unwanted buy obligation in the loan deal made it hard for him to get playing time.

Now, Elliott could have a chance to stay in the Premier League with Leeds, but is that what the forward wants?

Leeds have listed Elliott as a transfer target this summer, and have most likely been waiting to see what happens with the forward.

The 23-year-old has seen his game time plummet at Anfield after the arrival of Arne Slot, with Andoni Iraola unlikely to play him this season either.

Jurgen Klopp was a huge fan of the former England U21s star, and is a reason why the player has made almost 150 appearances for the Reds.

He has clear qualities that Farke desires in LS11, and could be the missing piece to the attacking jigsaw.

However, Leeds Live have reported that while a deal for Elliott is "possible", the player himself favours a move elsewhere.

While the destination of where he would like to go isn't revealed, it's not Leeds, and that should be enough for Farke and his staff to move on, given the policy that the Whites have.

The German head coach wants players that actually choose Leeds over other clubs, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Leeds' competition to sign Elliott

Brandt is a prime example of why Leeds can't afford to waste time on players who are shopping around.

It has to be the Whites; there were no issues with the likes of James Trafford, Harry Wilson or Tarik Muharemovic; they all wanted Leeds.

The Whites are up against the likes of Bournemouth, RB Leipzig and Newcastle United for the former Blackburn Rovers loanee.

Competition is always going to be present for players of his quality, but he's made his bed and now needs to lie in it.
