Lucas Perri's move from Leeds United to Torino is in fresh doubt.

Despite being widely expected to leave Leeds this summer, Perri is running out of time to seal an Elland Road exit.

The 28-year-old was a surprise inclusion by Daniel Farke to the Whites' bench for their 1-0 Premier League win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Italian side Torino have been heavily touted as being close to his signature over recent days, with an initial loan deal widely reported as being agreed.

But with the 1 September transfer deadline - which is the same for Premier League and Serie A clubs - moving closer, he remains a Leeds player.

And now, a fresh update on Saturday evening suggests that his proposed Turin transfer is in real danger of falling through completely.

Why Torino are having second thoughts about Lucas Perri deal

It was reported earlier this month that Perri was booked in for a medical with Torino.

A loan deal with an option for the Italians to purchase him was widely reported as being the terms of his move.

However, it now appears that Torino are getting cold feet about brining Perri in before the deadline.

Foot Mercato reporter Valentin Feuillette claims via X that Torino could now cancel Perri's proposed move entirely.

It's claimed that Perri has in fact not completed a medical with Torino, despite the Brazilian being in Turin this week.

Feuillette claims that Torino are now questioning whether the fee they'd be paying is worth it in relation to Perri's current physical condition.

The post also claims that Marseille could now be set to make a renewed effort to sign the Leeds goalkeeper.

But why might Sunday prove to be a real watershed day regarding Perri's chances of a move to Torino?

Why Torino could change Perri stance on Sunday

Leeds got their 2026-27 Premier League campaign started on Saturday, and Torino will do the same in Serie A on Sunday.

They welcome AC Milan to their Stadio Olimpico home for a 7:45pm UK time clash to open up their new league season.

As Feuillette claims in his aforementioned post, 19-year-old goalkeeper Diego Mascardi is set to start for Torino against Milan.

The teenager played the full 90 minutes in their recent Coppa Italia win over Carrarese, in what was his debut after joining from Spezia this summer.

An Italian youth international, Mascardi is clearly a highly-rated talent, and Sunday could mark the beginning of a long and successful Torino career in Serie A.

If he plays well, the Italian outfit may well see that as the final piece of evidence needed to scrap a deal for Perri.

However, should he look well out of his depth, then they could be forced to put their claimed worries aside and proceed with a move for the Leeds keeper.
