What Leeds United move for Michael Zetterer depends on after transfer reassurance
Leeds United have no doubts about signing Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.
The 31-year-old has emerged as a concrete target for the Whites as Daniel Farke looks for a number two.
James Trafford will be the first-choice shot-stopper at the West Yorkshire outfit, but they need more depth in the department due to uncertainty around Lucas Perri's future.
Zetterer's agent recently dismissed claims over a potential move to Elland Road, but he must not have got the memo.
Having lost Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier, and now potentially Perri, Alex Cairns will be serving as backup to Trafford for now.
The Peacocks are determined to have adequate squad depth for next season and are getting to work on it.
When Michael Zetterer move to Leeds United could materialise
Nico Pellatz recently expressed surprise at Leeds' links with Zetterer, and the goalkeeper's agent claimed that a move was out of the question.
The German shot-stopper's agent has tried to muddy the waters about his future, but the Elland Road faithful can remain calm.
According to Leeds Live on 21 August, the West Yorkshire outfit are confident they can land Zetterer.
Sources in LS11 have suggested that Pellatz's comments don't align with their understanding of the situation.
However, the German goalkeeper's move to the Peacocks is contingent on Perri's departure to Torino and Frankfurt signing a replacement.
The Brazilian player's transfer to the Serie A club hasn't been formalised yet, but they are keen to complete it soon.
What else Daniel Farke still needs at Elland Road
Leeds will tick one of their concerns before deadline day by signing Zetterer.
Other positions may still need strengthening in the coming days, especially if there are further departures.
Farke could have a lack of options out wide if the likes of Wilfried Gnonto or Dan James opt to leave for regular game time elsewhere.
The number nine position has already been left a bit weak after Joel Piroe and Joe Gelhardt's exits.
There's still plenty that the West Yorkshire outfit could potentially do in the final days of the window and Farke has shared his optimism about making further additions at Elland Road.
