Signing Kenedy risky call to replace Leeds United star Raphinha

With Raphinha’s future in doubt at Leeds United despite having two years left on his contract, the Whites are already looking for new recruitments as a possible replacement.

The 25-year-old’s departure would come as a blow to the Elland Road club with the winger scoring 11 goals to help them secure Premier League survival.

According to reports from the Dail Mail, one of the potential candidates Leeds are looking to recruit is Chelsea winger Kenedy.

The 26-year-old midfielder made only three appearances in the 2021-22 season for the London-based club.

Risky call to make

Signing a player like Kenedy will definitely going to be a risky call, especially looking at his performances in the Premier League during different spells.

If the Whites manage to secure the signing of the winger cheaply, it might turn out to be a good business.

However, if he comes with a hefty price tag then it would restrict Leeds’ plans of strengthening in the other areas.

Moreover, he doesn’t fall in the shoes of a like-for-like replacement for Raphinha, who is more of an attacking player and who plays on the right side.

The Brazil U23 international signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2015 from Fluminense in a deal worth £7.20 million.

Since then, he has played 30 matches for the Blues in all competitions where he has managed to score three goals and provided four assists.

During his time in the Premier League, he also spent a season on loan at Newcastle United where he scored thrice and provided three assists in 41 matches.

This is not ideal.
