Tottenham want to book Archie Gray medical as Leeds United transfer update emerges
Tottenham are advancing in their bid to sign Archie Gray from Leeds United with negotiations progressing, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his personal X account (1 July), the reliable transfer journalist reports that Spurs are optimistic about agreeing personal terms with the player open to the move to north London.
Ange Postecoglou held talks with the 18-year-old on Sunday (Mirror, 30 June) and they’re now hopeful of reaching a total agreement and booking a medical for the Leeds star soon.
Leeds United close to Archie Gray sale to Tottenham
It now looks inevitable that Gray will leave Elland Road in the coming days, with a deal with Tottenham now looking increasingly likely.
After a £40million deal was agreed with Brentford [Nizaar Kinsella, 29 June], Leeds backed out of a deal over the payment structure and now Spurs have swooped to get in someone who they believe is a prime target and someone who will hugely boost their squad.
Leeds fans had been hopeful that a deal could now be off after the June 30 PSR deadline passed without anything becoming official, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
However, it now seems obvious that Gray is going to be leaving Leeds very soon and Daniel Farke will have to find solutions to replace him quickly.
It won’t be easy because he’s so talented and versatile, but it will be a necessity if the team want to move back to the Premier League next season.
In other Leeds news, a player has jetted out of the UK to put pen to paper on a deal to leave the club permanently.
