'Unreal', 'Orta continuing to surprise us' – Some Leeds fans react to major transfer update
Leeds United fans didn’t have much time to lament the loss of young centre-back Josko Gvardiol, who turned down a move to Elland Road.
To make up for it, Leeds moved quickly to sign a much more high-profile player – Real Sociedad’s Diego Llorente.
The news broke on Sky Sports Good Morning Transfer show on Tuesday morning and was posted on Twitter by Bryan Swanson.

The deal picked up pace throughout the day and Sky Sports reported that an agreement in principle had been reached over the transfer.
There’s still work to be done but it looks like it’s going to happen, bar anything going wrong with the medical.
If any Leeds fans were unaware of him, prominent Spanish journalist Guillem Balague wrote a brilliant thread highlighting his attributes.
He called him a “top player” who is “fantastic with long passing.”
Diego Llorente is a very athletic CB who has played also as full back and CM. Quality with his feet, struggled a bit as he played left of the two CB this season and a muscle problem in January. But he is a top player. Fantastic with long passing and comfortable with short -THREAD https://t.co/qPAVZjxe4T

Balague added that “he’s considered on his best form one of top 5-6 Spanish centre-backs.”
That’s exactly the level that Leeds should be looking at now but it’s left the fans purring at the prospect of continuing the season with a German (Robin Koch) and Spanish international centre-back pairing.
One fan did worry about what would happen to Liam Cooper, saying that Llorente is “not coming in to be third choice centre-back. Wonder where this leaves Liam Cooper?”

That’s a problem for another day, though, and we’re sure that even the biggest Cooper fan would prefer extra cover at centre-back.
Here are the best of the rest of the reactions to the major transfer update from Sky Sports…
Unreal, what a signing! Gonna win the league no doubt when signing absolute baller like my boy Diego! #lufc https://t.co/U3GyD150ys

Looks a great signing. Interesting that Bielsa is suddenly so receptive to another centre back coming in

For all the people saying he won’t start ahead of cooper or Koch he probably will. He’s a quality CB …….

He will be a great signing for us…reads the game well and is good in the air and also good ball control…bring it on! MOT

This is excellent – we 100% need to prioritise strengthening the defence rather than attack – first two games demonstrate we have enough fire power up front. Don’t get me wrong I’d love de Paul & James but we need a centre back and left back more
