The Athletic: Leeds United pushing to seal Junior Firpo transfer this week
Leeds United are confident that they will complete the transfer of Barcelona defender Junior Firpo this week, according to The Athletic.
The Whites have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old in recent days, and The Athletic’s Adam Crafton has detailed their stance on his impending transfer on his personal Twitter profile on Tuesday afternoon.
He wrote: “Leeds United are highly optimistic of sealing a deal for left-back Junior Firpo from Barcelona in coming days. Edging to completion and confident they will get their man. Another exciting signing for [Marcelo] Bielsa.”
The Athletic report on their website gives further details of the move, with the Whites “pressing ahead” with a deal for a player who has emerged as their first-choice option for left-back.
A medical would be held in Leeds.

All systems go
This appears to be a move that won’t break down now, barring a spectacular issue with his medical.
The final medical checks are usually a formality in the modern day as clubs have prior access to important information that would potentially cause a hiccup to any deal, so we expect this to go through.
There have been varying reports from different outlets but The Athletic are viewed as one of the trustiest sources around and thus it appears that Firpo is on his way to West Yorkshire.
It’s an exciting move on the face of it. It’s not every day that a 24-year-old from Barcelona transfers to Leeds, so we’re looking forward to seeing how he fares for us in the Premier League.
He may have fallen on difficult times for the Spanish giants, but with Bielsa’s backing and coaching there’s always the chance that he can explode back to life and rediscover his sensational form for previous club Real Betis.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have issued a major announcement over this English midfielder after his Championship exit.
