Sky Sports share Mads Frokjaer to Leeds United transfer update today
Leeds United have looked at Preston midfielder Mads Frokjaer in the past as a potential transfer target, Gary Weaver says.
Deepdale Stadium hosted the Whites on Saturday [14 December], and the Sky Sports commentator revealed interest from the West Yorkshire club in the Danish national.
The 25-year-old started for Paul Heckingbottom’s team against the Peacocks, with the away side rescuing a late point in a 1-1 draw.
Speaking live on Sky Sports [14 December, 12:44], the commentator said: “Mads Frokjaer, a player that Leeds have had a look at in the past.”
Leeds United don’t need Mads Frokjaer transfer
The Whites have suffered several injuries in the middle of the park this season, with Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruez sidelined in the opening months.
The Welsh national made his comeback to the squad only recently, as Farke has had to rely on other options in the squad.
Frokjaer could’ve been a decent addition to improve the squad depth at Elland Road, but Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka have proven their quality.
Leeds have not been hurt much by the absence of important players like Ampadu and Gruev, highlighting the quality options the German manager has in the engine room.

Tanaka has been a revelation since his move to the Whites last summer, and the Japanese player has certainly made a case for keeping his place in the starting lineup.
Frokjaer has impressed during his time in the Championship, but with the Peacocks aiming to maintain their status in the Premier League once they are promoted, better options must be considered.
In other Leeds United news, Farke needs to make a no-brainer decision with one starter’s contract.
