Sebastiaan Bornauw will complete the formalities of his Leeds United exit over the next couple of days.

Daniel Farke was happy to open the exit for the Belgian enforcer, who simply wanted more football.

Bornauw has played a bigger role in pre-season, but was expected to drop back to the bench for the Premier League.

Tarik Muharemovic has replaced Pascal Struijk, while Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol will continue alongside him at the back.

That means Bornauw will join Hamburg, and he certainly has big shoes to fill already in the Bundesliga.

Leeds won't mind, with Nico Elvedi already on the verge of replacing him.

Sebastiaan Bornauw will replace Vuskovic

An unknown quantity when moving to Tottenham from Croatia, Luka Vuskovic has become the best young defender in the world.

He spent last season on loan at Hamburg, but never actually made a senior competitive appearance for Spurs.

Despite that, Brighton paid £50million to sign him this summer.

And now, BILD has reported in its print edition on Monday that Bornauw will become the "new Vuskovic" in Hamburger.

The German newspaper states that the Belgian wasn't satisfied with his role in LS11, and will become head of the defence at his new club.

That's fair enough, and all parties have moved quickly to find a resolution of a loan-to-buy move.

What next for Leeds United?

The 49ers simply aren't messing around in this window, and have opened the door for anybody who doesn't want to be here.

Of course, Bornauw appears to have done it respectfully, which helps his cause to get what he wants, which is simply more gametime.

As well as that, his communication has allowed Leeds to go into the market and secure Elvedi, who has always been a long-term target.

The Swiss international will join up with Noah Okafor in West Yorkshire, and upgrade the defence immediately.

It does make an interesting scenario in defence, with massive competition for three spots with four central options.

Elvedi will start the season on the bench having arrived late, but that Carabao Cup tie at Nottingham Forest could be his first taste of action.

As for Bornauw, he will be used straight away by Hamburg, with Leeds fans wishing him well.
