SC Cambuur approach Leeds United over loan deal for Crysencio Summerville
Eredivisie outfit SC Cambuur have made an approach to Leeds United over a potential loan deal for 19-year-old winger Crysencio Summerville, according to Voetbal.
The Dutch news outlet claims Cambuur are “seriously in the market” for the Whites Under-23s sensation who scored six goals and supplied six assists in the Premier League 2 last term as the Whites lifted the Division 2 title.
Cambuur are said to have “officially reported” to Leeds, with the Dutch side “currently investigating the possibilities” of securing Summerville on a temporary deal with manager Henk de Jong keen on loan signings from major clubs in Europe.
Keep him close?
Summerville was named on the first-team bench by Marcelo Bielsa last season, notably in the 0-0 draw with Manchester United at Elland Road, but he is yet to feature under him, and is still waiting for his senior debut for the Whites.
After a sensational season for the second-string side where he made a mockery of countless defenders with his pace and skills, it’s likely that the Dutch youth international is eyeing up playing time in a top league now.
He has prior experience of the Eredivisie, having enjoyed a season-long loan at ADO Den Haag during the 2019/20 campaign before Leeds signed him from Feyenoord in September 2020.
Bielsa usually likes to keep his best talents close by, and can be reticent to offload them on loans.
But Summerville may be pursuing more experience, and that will leave the club with a big decision.
Is it worth Summerville going back to the Netherlands for a season?
He’d be sure to get regular game time in a technical league, but does he need a more robust challenge, perhaps in the Championship?
That’s something that will have to be weighed up, but it’s no surprise to see a club seriously interested in Summerville.
