Jamie O'Hara: Marcelo Bielsa needs to be at a 'Big club', Tottenham are bigger than Leeds United
Jamie O’Hara has suggested that Leeds United are “lucky” to have Marcelo Bielsa in charge, and that the Argentine is managing below his level.
Speaking on talkSPORT [21/07/21], the former England Under-21 international said: “He [Bielsa] needs to be at a big club doesn’t he?
“[Tottenham Hotspur?] Let’s not go there, I’m not going there because I’ll just get pelters. Spurs are a bigger club than Leeds.
“If Bielsa went to Spurs it would be a step-up, absolutely, of course it is.
“He should be at a club like Barcelona, Leeds are very lucky to have him.
“I’d love him at Spurs but he’s never going to leave Leeds for Spurs, there’s not enough ambition at Spurs.”
This is surely just the latest attempt by O’Hara to wind up the Whites fanbase.
Does he actually believe the stuff he’s saying?
Let’s deal with the “bigger club” Tottenham jibe to start with.
Yes, Spurs may have possibly the finest stadium in the world and some world-class talents in their side like Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, but let’s not forget that they were mid-table also-rans for much of their Premier League history, and they were well below the level of Leeds when the Whites were competing in the semi-final of the Champions League.
That’s before even mention our prior history.
But, regarding Bielsa joining an ‘elite’ side like Barcelona, that flies completely in the face of all that he believes in.
Clubs like Barcelona have a ‘hire and fire’ policy, whereby if you do not have instantaneous success they will just sack you. Bielsa doesn’t want that.
He wants to feel loved and have the feeling of a close-knit community that is pushing in the same direction.
O’Hara’s got El Loco all wrong.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are set to complete this midfield signing within days amid talks over personal terms.
