San Fransisco 49ers react on Instagram as Leeds United sign Brenden Aaronson

The San Francisco 49ers are clearly thrilled to see Leeds United signing USA international Brenden Aaronson on a permanent deal on Thursday (26 May).

After the news of Aaronson’s arrival from Red Bull Salzburg was confirmed, Leeds shared footage on Instagram that showed the 21-year-old midfielder undergoing a medical at Thorp Arch.

Leeds’ future owners the 49ers, who already have a 44 per cent share of the club, reacted to the video clip on their official Instagram account.

“You love to see it,” said the NFL franchise.

American takeover

It seems that the American influence is growing and growing at Elland Road.

Since the 49ers increased their stake at Leeds to 44 per cent last year, it cannot be a coincidence that since then, Jesse Marsch has been made the manager and USA international Aaronson has been bought for a hefty fee.

We first started to see speculation about Marsch and Aaronson in January – just a matter of weeks after the 49ers reportedly pre-agreed a full takeover at Elland Road [The Athletic].

Leeds might as well come out to The Star-Spangled Banner for their home games at Elland Road next season with Patrick Bamford wearing a cowboy hat.

In all seriousness, we’re glad that the 49ers are gradually taking over the club because Andrea Radrizzani is only going to take us so far.

However, the influence they’re having on the management and the squad shouldn’t become too great because that could lead to all kinds of issues.

In other Leeds United news, Marcelo Bielsa was a massive fan of a Croatian player the Whites are trying to sign again.
