Report: Young midfielder agrees Leeds exit after contract decision
Connor Leak-Blunt’s contract with Leeds United has been terminated just months after signing it, according to Football Insider.
The 17-year-old agreed a three-year professional deal at Elland Road in July but it is understood that he has now parted company with the Yorkshire giants.
Football Insider reports that the young midfielder is now trying to secure a contract at a new club and is currently on trial at Premier League club Sheffield United.
It is strange to see that Leak-Blunt only signed a three-year contract in the summer but has already agreed to sever ties with Leeds.
It is unlikely that we will ever find out the truth behind this decision by the club and the player but Leak-Blunt’s father Jason had been a coach with the Whites until 2017 and he had been on the books at Elland Road for nine years.
Leak-Blunt’s time with Leeds is now over but someone who won a long-term contract at one of the country’s top clubs for youth development is unlikely to find it hard to win a deal elsewhere.
At the moment, it seems as though Sheffield United are in pole position to secure Leak-Blun with him on trial there but anything can happen with young free agents.
Hopefully he does not come back to haunt Leeds in several years’ time.
In other Leeds United news, three players have been ruled out of the match against Fulham.
