Replacement already found as Leeds United plot Kjell Scherpen transfer
Leeds United and their hunt for a new goalkeeper is a story that appears to be never-ending.
And with that, Union Saint-Gilloise's Kjell Scherpen is the latest to emerge on the Elland Road shortlist.
Illan Meslier was first to leave LS11, joining Arsenal after his contract expired.
Then, unexpectedly, Karl Darlow walked away too as a free agent, inexplicably joining Manchester United.
And now, with Lucas Perri also facing increased speculation, Daniel Farke and the 49ers need to get to work.
Scherpen is just the latest name on a long list, with no real progress being made on actually signing a new goalkeeper yet.
Where are Leeds with Kjell Scherpen?
Once again, it's a case of a link created by European media.
Ben Heckner, a Sky Sports journalist based in Munich, has reported that Leeds are looking at Scherpen.
It's said that there is Premier League competition, mainly in the form of newly-promoted Ipswich.
Union Saint-Gilloise are already said to have found a possible replacement in Arminia Bielefeld's Jonas Kersken.
Who else is on Leeds' shortlist?
MOT Leeds News has heavily covered Leeds' hunt for a new goalkeeper.
James Trafford of Manchester City appears to be the dream signing, but much will depend on if he is actually allowed to leave after the World Cup.
Enzo Maresca is coming in to replace Pep Guardiola, and City do already have Gianluigi Donnarumma on their books.
On top of that, there is the never-ending speculation with Parma's Zion Suzuki, which is heavily pushed by the Italian media.
Despite the Japanese international having a standout World Cup with the Blue Samarai, that one appears to have cooled down now.
At this stage, Perri is the undisputed number one at Elland Road again, and while not dreadful, it doesn't fill you with confidence.
Alex Cairns did sign on the dotted line for a new contract, so he slots in as number two, for now.
Leeds have secured their priority marquee signings of Tarik Muharemovic and Harry Wilson, next is a goalkeeper.
And with the trip to the United States only days away, it could get done quickly.
Could Scherpen be the answer? We'll find out very soon.
