Karl Darlow is set to become the latest player to cross the divide between Leeds United and Manchester United.

The heated rivalry between the two clubs is well-known, but that still hasn't stopped players from switching Elland Road for Old Trafford.

With the Wales international on his way to the Red Devils, he becomes the sixth player to swap LS11 for M16.

Darlow has become a free agent after his contract expired at the end of the 2025-26 campaign and he's set to become the first Leeds goalkeeper in history to join Man United in a direct transfer.

The 35-year-old joined the West Yorkshire outfit in 2023 from Newcastle United and spent most of that time as the number two.

With Illan Meslier and Lucas Perri struggling, the Welshman had established himself as the first choice under the German manager, but he has opted to end his stint with the Peacocks.

Defender Gordon McQueen and striker Joe Jordan were the first ones to move from Leeds to Man United, doing so in 1978.

Arthur Graham opted to do the same in 1979 after spending several successful years at Elland Road.

Fans in LS11 were then left betrayed by Eric Cantona in 1992 as the French striker who had helped them win the First Division title was sold to the Red Devils.

Rio Ferdinand moved to Old Trafford from the Whites for a then-British record fee of around £30million in 2002, while Alan Smith became the last player to do so in 2004, with both still hated at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke left with major crisis as goalkeeper transfer U-turn could be forced

Leeds have been pushing to sign Parma's Zion Suzuki to bolster their goalkeeping department, but a deal may not be easy to pull off.

While signing a quality shot-stopper should now be a priority for the Whites, there's no guarantee that will happen.

As a result, Farke could potentially have to rely on Perri as his number one next season, which doesn't bode well after watching his performances in the 2025-26 campaign.

The 28-year-old Brazilian ace could surely have left the West Yorkshire outfit had Darlow signed a new deal, but they certainly won't want to lose more depth in that position now.
