Phil Hay clarifies Leeds transfer claim made by Sky Sports pundit with agreement reached

Leeds United have already agreed to sign Jack Harrison permanently from Manchester City next summer, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.

The former Yorkshire Evening Post has clarified a claim made by Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on Tuesday, when he said on Amazon Prime that “they are going to try” again to sign Harrison, 24, permanently.

Writing on The Athletic website, Hay said: “It’s agreed for next summer. The previous option wasn’t taken up in time but it was renegotiated.”

Harrison a bargain at £10m

Hay reported in the summer that Leeds will be paying around £10million to sign Harrison permanently from Manchester City and based on what we’ve seen from the winger in the Premier League, the Citizens have been robbed.

Harrison is now in his third season on loan at Elland Road and has managed to get better and better with each campaign.

He’s had a couple of patches this season where he hasn’t been as good as fans would have hoped but the loanee remains one of the top wingers in the Premier League based on the figures.

Stats by Wyscout show that only Liverpool star Andrew Robertson [85] has played more crosses than Harrison [78].

Patrick Bamford has the highest xG in the Premier League [11.7] and that is largely down to how effective Harrison has been on the left-wing.

Next summer, Leeds will be getting themselves a young, English winger who’s had a full season of Premier League football and three seasons of being coached by Bielsa for £10million.

It could be the bargain of Victor Orta’s career.
