‘Phenomenal’, ‘Better than De Paul’ – These Leeds fans thrilled by Italian transfer update
Leeds United have been strongly linked with a move for Rodrigo De Paul this summer but a new name has emerged – Fiorentina’s Erick Pulgar.
A report in Italian outlet La Nazione claimed that Leeds have intensified talks with the Italian club over a move for the midfielder – and plenty of Whites fans are absolutely delighted.
Pulgar is a defensive midfielder by trade but has been pushed forward over the last couple of seasons, and that’s seen him deliver more in the attacking third.
He scored seven goals last season and added six assists, and some fans see him as real cover for Kalvin Phillips, and as an extra option to Klich in central midfield.
One Leeds fan who watched him in Serie A last season said there was a “bit of Batty in him” and added that he was “superb on free kicks”.
One Italian fan was brought into the conversation and he said, “Pulgar is really a quality midfielder, has the know-how and physicality needed for the Prem. I mean he brings you safe 5-10 assists and the same amount of goals if led properly and I have no doubt Bielsa can do that with him.”
One Leeds fan said he would be a “phenomenal piece of business” – but it’s one that could mean the budget isn’t there for Rodrigo De Paul.
We’d love both players but if it’s a straight choice then our feet are still firmly in the De Paul camp.
These Leeds fans are a lot more enthusiastic, with one saying that Pulgar “did better than De Paul” over the course of last season…
