Patrick Bamford exit: Leeds transfer speculation shared after Farke call
Adam Pope has speculated that Patrick Bamford could be on his way out of Leeds United in the January transfer window.
The BBC journalist expressed his surprise at Daniel Farke deciding to start Mateo Joseph ahead of Bamford as he dropped Joel Piroe against Middlesbrough at Elland Road on Tuesday, 10 December.
Pope feels that decision could be a sign of the 31-year-old’s fading influence at Thorp Arch ahead of a January exit, although Farke will not admit that.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds [10 December, 7:30 pm], he said: “To not pick him ahead of Joseph for a big game tonight – he’s the one who didn’t perform against Boro when he did get his first start and only start this season earlier on in the campaign – that sort of says something, doesn’t it, of where Farke sees Bamford maybe.
“He can’t cast him out, he’s not going to admit that, is he? But, is there something happening with Patrick Bamford in January, you wonder.”
Patrick Bamford exit: Leeds transfer speculation shared by after Farke call
Bamford, who has been a regular at Elland Road since arriving from Boro in 2018, has found playing time hard to come by under Farke this season.
The former Chelsea man’s only start came in the Whites’ 3-0 defeat to Michael Carrick’s side in the EFL Cup on 14 August.
By this point, it is evident that Farke favours Piroe and Joseph over Bamford in the pecking order.
Furthermore, Leeds have also been credited with an interest in Maccabi Tel Aviv frontman Dor Turgeman ahead of the January transfer window [Sport5].

Bamford should, therefore, consider leaving the West Yorkshire outfit when the window opens in four weeks.
However, it is unclear if the one-time England international has concrete interest from other clubs.
Nevertheless, offloading Bamford could see the Elland Road outfit free up a spot in the squad while also making some money available to invest in new signings.
In other Leeds United news, this Farke regular could be tempted to leave in January amid interest from a foreign club.
