Pascal Struijk has just one year left on his contract, which leaves Leeds United having to make a decision.

The Dutch defender has been a key man for the Whites over the last few seasons.

But now, the Whites run the risk of allowing the centre-back to join another side for free.

Ideally, Daniel Farke will want to keep the 26-year-old in LS11 ahead of next season, but if talks over a new deal do not progress, that could be taken out of his hands.

Leeds are not in a position to allow an asset such as the centre-back walk away for nothing, with the funds he could bring in holding plenty of importance.

And now, the possibility of that exit has emerged for the defender, who has become a favourite among the Elland Road faithful.

Leeds stance on Pascal Struijk exit becomes clear

Priority number one is to keep Struijk in LS11, but that wish may not be granted.

As things stand, there have been no fresh reports on contract talks between the player and club, leaving his future far from certain.

And now, according to Leeds Live journalist Isaac Johnson, the Whites could be open to an exit if a substantial offer lands on their desk.

He states: "If he bides his time and holds off, and an offer comes in that turns his head, Leeds may oblige. After all, there is the risk he walks away for nothing next summer after eight years of spending time and energy nurturing him into a Premier League defender.

"That would be a missed profit opportunity, especially with the new finance rules set to marginally squeeze Leeds tighter over the next few summers."

With the transfer window open, it is Struijk who holds all the cards over his future.

If he signals his intent to not sign a new deal, Leeds would be forced to consider an exit.

However, Johnson is optimistic he will remain at Elland Road saying "there’s every chance."

Do Leeds have any other contracts to worry about?

Struijk is not the only player who is coming close to the end of their current deal.

The Whites also face decisions over the futures of Ilia Gruev, Brenden Aaronson and Lukas Nmecha.

Like the Dutchman, they are on course to exit as free agents after June 2027.

Joel Piroe is another, but the Peacocks do hold an option for another year. Although after falling down the pecking order, a sale this summer is most likely.

Nonetheless, Struijk, Aaronson, Gruev and Nmecha are all assets that could be sold for decent fees.

Leeds will not want to lose any of them for free, leaving a summer of plentiful decisions inbound for the 49ers.
