Nottingham Forest want to sign Leeds United forward Crysensio Summerville - Fabrizio Romano
Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Leeds United attacker Crysensio Summerville this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Thursday morning (23 June), the Guardian journalist reported that AZ Alkmaar are also interested in landing the 20-year-old Dutch winger.
It is understood that Leeds are “busy trying to keep the player at Elland Road by extending his contract”, which suggests that there is interest in a permanent deal for the youngster.
Romano adds that negotiations are “ongoing to decide his future as soon as possible”.
Get him tied down
Summerville’s contract at Leeds expires next year so the club needs to either sort out a new deal for the Netherlands Under-21 international or sell him.
It’ll be a massive shame to see him go to Forest because he’d likely be a first-team player there and he could go on to prove Leeds wrong for selling him.
AZ would be a good move for him as they’re one of the best teams in the Dutch Eredivise and they would also be able to promise European football – albeit in the Europa Conference League.
Summerville played six times in the Premier League in the 2021/22 season.
Marcelo Bielsa handed him the majority of those appearances while Jesse Marsch seemed to overlook him way more often than the ex-Leeds boss did.
It may have led to Summerville seeking a move away from Leeds because he was also linked with an exit back in January.
He needs the game-time so what would be best is if Leeds get him to sign a new contract and then loan him out to one of those interested clubs.
However, if a contract hasn’t already been agreed then we’re concerned there’s a chance that Summerville will be off.
