Jonathan Rowe will train with Norwich City Under-21s for the foreseeable future amid interest from Leeds United, according to Pink Un.

The Norwich-based website reported [12 August] that the 21-year-old will not be a part of the Canaries' first-team squad ahead of their EFL Cup tie against Stevenage on Tuesday 13 August.

Rowe pulled out of Johannes Hoff Thorup's squad ahead of the opening game of the Championship season against Oxford United, indicating he was not in the right frame of mind for the clash.

It is understood that, with the Whites facing competition from Marseille for his signature, a £15million price tag has been placed on the player in an attempt to ward off interest [Daily Mirror].

Leeds United to seal Jonathan Rowe transfer after latest twist?

The transfer saga looks to be turning rather sour after the youngster was unable to focus his mind on the job at hand, with so much interest floating about at Carrow Road.

With the player never having been away from the Canaries, it is understandable why Rowe may not be in the right frame of mind at such a young age. A big-money move could be a lot to deal with mentally.

The winger only broke through into the first team in the last few years, and despite notching 12 goals and two assists last season, he was sidelined for a considerable amount of time through injury.

With still a few weeks of the transfer window remaining, it is impossible to predict what may happen for the 21-year-old moving forward, but at Elland Road, a replacement for Crysencio Summerville is needed.

A deal for Crystal Palace's Jesurun Rak-Sayki now looks to be impossible, with the player set to undergo a medical at Sheffield United on Monday [Lyall Thomas], so Rowe looks like the next-best option.

Although Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James are talented wingers, Daniel Farke seems to be lacking depth in his squad, and the Norwich man would certainly help fix that concern.
