Leeds United made a last-gasp effort to sign Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sayki over the weekend, according to Lyall Thomas.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via his personal X account [12 August] that, while Burnley and Norwich City also made moves, the 21-year-old is set to join Sheffield United on loan instead.

It is understood that the winger is travelling to Bramall Lane on Monday 12 August to complete a medical before joining the Blades for the 2024/25 campaign.

Leeds United set to miss out on Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Rak-Sakyi would have been a rather exciting coup for Leeds, but it looks as though the decision has been made for him to join the Blades instead, much to the disappointment of fans at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke's side could do with filling the vacant void left by Crysencio Summerville's departure to West Ham United earlier this month, and it looked like the 21-year-old could have been the perfect fit.

It is understood that Leeds had offered £15million to sign Rak-Sayki [Alan Nixon], though Palace were clearly only searching for the right loan deal, with the youngster holding a lot of potential at Selhurst Park.

With the winger now nearing a deal with Sheffield United, heads will likely turn to Norwich star Jonathan Rowe, who is also said to be available for £15million this summer [Daily Mirror].

Those rumours have been made even stronger after the 21-year-old asked to be left out of the Canaries' opening day fixture against Oxford United on Saturday 10 August [Connor Southwell].

While Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James are decent options for Farke on the flanks, there is an obvious lack of depth in the squad that Leeds need to address before the transfer window closes.

Although Rak-Sakyi no longer is an option, Rowe is still there for the taking if Leeds act quickly enough.
