Nico Elvedi comments point to summer move as Leeds United set for talks
Nico Elvedi may have his eyes set on a Borussia Monchengladbach exit as Leeds United remain interested.
The Switzerland international was linked with a move to Elland Road last summer, but a deal didn't go through.
He remained in the Bundesliga for the most recent campaign as his side finished 12th in the table.
That hasn't discouraged Daniel Farke who has wanted to work with the defender again after working together in the 2022-23 season.
The Whites looked to sign him 12 months ago and look set to have reignited that interest already.
It could come at the perfect time as Elvedi has already pointed towards a Monchengladbach departure.
Nico Elvedi hints towards Borussia Monchengladbach exit
The 29-year-old has just seen out his 11th campaign as part of the first team at Borussia Park.
He has certainly instilled himself as an important member of The Foals' squad in that time.
It appears that his race may be run after over 360 appearances moving into the summer window.
His contract expires in 2027 and he has pointed towards a potential move in the coming weeks and months.
Speaking after Monchengladbach's final day win against Hoffenheim, he discussed his future.
Elvedi said: "After more than ten years, I know what Gladbach means to me, the club is my home. But you know what can happen in football."
That uncertainty does lend itself to a potentially imminent exit as Leeds continue to showcase interest.
Leeds ready for Elvedi transfer talks
If the defender has his eye on a move this summer, it could come at the perfect time for the Whites.
They have been interested since a year ago and he appears to be a favourite option of Farke.
German outlet Bild reported on Saturday that Leeds would be willing to pay £7.3million for his signature.
The Monchengladbach hierarchy are ready to hold talks over that fee as they don't see that as enough to sell the Swiss ace.
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2027, a departure is said to be likely and the LS11 outfit can take advantage of that.
The entire situation does point towards an imminent transfer for Elvedi and Leeds will hope they can seize the opportunity.
