Nelson Deossa in emergency position as Leeds United officials make first transfer move
Nelson Deossa is proving that he could be the perfect transfer solution for Leeds United this summer.
Currently at Real Betis, the door was opened for the midfielder to leave Spain earlier in the window.
Deossa was set to join Vasco Da Gama, but when interest was revealed from England, he asked for that to be on hold.
More specifically, Leeds were at the front of that interest.
But, Manuel Pellegrini may now have found a new role which sees the Colombian stick around in La Liga.
Nelson Deossa may be perfect for Leeds
Daniel Farke clearly wants another midfielder, but he also wants further depth behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Leeds have failed in a pursuit of Shea Charles, who will now join Fulham from Southampton for more than they wanted to pay.
So, Deossa could tick that box instead, and cheaper.
Diario Da Sevilla has reported in its print edition on 10 August that the midfielder's chances of leaving have descreased significantly.
The Spanish newspaper states that Deossa's "emergency" move to play as a striker ended overwhelmingly positive.
With three goals in pre-season, he has proven to be a genuine option when required up front, as well as midfield.
Why Nelson Deossa ticks all of the boxes for Leeds
This switch in position means that the Whites could get two for the price of one in their squad.
While not needing a starter in either position, Deossa could come in, take his spot on the bench and play in either role when the game requires.
Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach will start in midfield, and with Ao Tanaka behind, Deossa would add depth to that.
Then there's Lukas Nmecha behind Calvert-Lewin, making the Betis star another option in the final third.
Farke could then use the rest of his budget on others areas like a winger, and further options in defence.
Leeds are going to be busy in this final three weeks of the window, but it may start with Deossa coming in.
